Ingredients: Rice (Oil Coated), Moong Dal (Split Lentils) Spices included: Cumin, Turmeric, Cloves, Asafetida, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Black Pepper
Instructions: Rinse the Rice and Dal Mixture with Cold water twice. Take water equal to 4 times the volume of Kichari mix and soak for 30 minutes. Boil the soaked kichari till rice is cooked to desired consistency. Add turmeric when khichari is boiling. Add salt to taste.
Seasoning: Heat one tsp. ghee (or as per taste) add cumin seeds till they splatter and turns nice brown. Add asafetida, and other spices as per taste. You can add finely chopped garlic and green hot peppers to the seasoning. Add seasoning when evenly cooked to the kichari and stir. ENJOY !
